Sales are a word on which the whole market exists. If nothing was sold there
would be still barter system today and people could not get all the facilities
and service they get today. It is the foundation of each and every business
today. Some are selling products while some sell services. In pharmacy there
are the following sales related jobs.
Field sales representative
This kind of job refers to seeking out the customer and searching from
place to place for customers instead of staying at a particular place.
In this type of job you have to find as many customers as possible in
the area. You get paid on the basis of no of customers you find. Depending
on the company you are allotted transport, record keeping instrument such
as laptop or a diary and contact information such as cell phones. This
kind of job requires little or no office work and has working hours based
on your choice.
Sales Account manager
This is one level up compared to field sales representative, you get
better pay and are generally required to manage all the people working
for you by managing all their accounts and keeping track of the information
as to who has made how many sales. this is office work mainly and does
not involve much moving around. He is also assigned the duty to look after
customers.
Business Development Executive
The main duties of Business Development Executive are to see that the
business is growing and the firm or company is profiting from it. Business
Development Executive makes sure that the business spreads and he has
more and more customers without losing old one. He is still a level above
account manager and has more power and responsibility; he has to extract
maximum work from his subordinates. Generally such a person has to be
driven and ambitious and also needs very high level of qualifications.
Telesales representative
Telesales representative comes under Business Development Executive officer.
The duties include mainly calling customer and maintaining friendly relations
with them on behalf of the company. They are even assigned duty for sales
by calling new potential customers. Most people think they are very annoying
but weren't for them they would not be knowing about the products. They
are one of the cost effective way to improve sales and service.
Territory sales manager
This are the highest level officers for a certain territory. They are
required to manage all the sections working under them and supervise them
and are to report to the central authority. They are required to manage
all the people working under them and see that all the healthcare officials
are up to par, registered and licensed.
Some other positions are
Area sales manager which refers to managing all the sales officers and
has similar duties to business Development Executive more or less, but
they have less power and authority.
Field sales executive is almost same as Field sales representative but
have more qualification and are more technical and have more perks and
facilities, they are one step above Field sales representative.
These are the main types of people and their posts for a pharmaceutical
company, similar to any other company. depending on hierarchical level
certain posts may be higher or lower, but basically it is the same.
